Advertising and Choosing

How are properties advertised?IMAGE MX Sample Advert

Mutual Exchange properties are advertised for 90 days on the website and in our newsletter, which is available in a variety of locations.

Properties will appear on the website as they are approved and will be available for bidding until midnight on the 90th day of advertising.

The adverts

The adverts typically tell you the landlord, location, size, rent and other features of the property to help you decide which properties are right for you.

The adverts also include details of the type of property, bedroom size and location that the advertiser is looking to move to. An example advert can be seen on the right.

There is nothing to stop you from bidding for any Mutual Exchange property, however the advertiser might not choose to exchange with you if you don't have what they are looking for.

Choosing a property

You are able to bid for as many other Mutual Exchange properties advertised in the scheme as you wish.

All requested exchanges will have to be approved by both parties landlords before an actual exchange can take place.

You can express your interest in one of the following ways:-

  • On the website: Visit www.derbyhomefinder.org and login using your unique reference number and your memorable date

  • Using a kiosk: You can bid for properties using a Derby Homefinder kiosk - these are located at the Housing Options Centre, the Council House and Peartree Home Improvement Centre, as well as in certain Derby Homes local housing offices. Please note kiosks can only be used to place bids, not for processing the exchange itself.

Reminder

Please do not make any arrangements to move house without written approval from your landlord.
